This is why we can't have nice things!

No one's gonna notice but int13h will be doing their small part to help bring to an end to this SOPA madness. On January the 18th at 13:00 GMT  our little corner of the interwebz will go dark. This is in protest of the US Congress trying to pass the PIPA/SOPA bills. Although we aren't American nor are our servers based in America these "acts" will make it impossible to link to any sites in the world ever again for fear of infringing copyright law. Without legal process our DNS records would be nuked... and then you'd have no more text-only-websites that haven't been updated for years... well it's the principal of the thing!

Basically head on over to reddit for the full skinny.

A dino in party hat!

int13h platoon

Battlefield 3 has finally arrived and would you believe it, we are all over that like white on rice! Shocking I know...

The [i13h] int13h Platoon is up and running if you so wish to hurl some abuse at us on Battlelog. See you on the field soldiers Hoorah!

How they do it in the Pro's

quake2.jpg

Just taking a quick break from not updating the int13h site, I stumbled apon a great write up of the Quake 2 source code by Fabien Sanglard, who incidentally did a rather nifty write up of the Quake 1 source code and if you couldn't see where this was already going... yes a write up of Doom

The Quake 2 write up is quite interesting as it talks about how rediculous the software rendering side of things can get compared to modern graphics engines using hardware acceleration and some of the cleaver little tricks they did to get the software engine to look so great. Also you can see how bad ass John Carmack's workstation was at the time =P

Super Awesome Mega Level Up Extreme! SURREAL!

Woohoo, finally some real information released about Battlefield 3 and even a naff teaser trailer (zomg jets!!).

Also from GameInformer :-

Most of the hard information is being kept under wraps for the cover story, but here's some declassified intel for you: Several standout features that defined Battlefield 2 return to the fold, including 64-player multiplayer on PC, jets, and the ability to go prone.

And here is a sneak peek at the ingame footage

Stiiiimpy, I'm so... happy

If this needs an introduction then you should just leave now..

Map of Metal!

Just incase you didn't know, 'Metal' has a few sub-genres. Ever wondered what Viking Metal bands are out there? or maybe you didn't know about Funeral Doom Metal? Thankfully we've found a website that will help you... http://www.mapofmetal.com/ - \m/,

And on that bombshell...

What happens when you take two very awesome things and put them together?

Cool stunt bike bmx thingy done in Canvas

Check out CanvasRider - a funky stunt bike game made using Javascript and Canvas with the added bonus of being able to draw/build your own levels that everyone can play and set times on. It may not have any pewpew's but it's awesome anyway =P

I hate comics

Son of a bitch! The Official Left 4 Dead Comic - The Sacrifice is out and its good. Go read it while we all wait for the next expansion DLC comes out early next month.

Look at the shiny shiny!

How typical is this, as soon as you take down the xmas decorations you realise what a shit heap the place looks. Time to break out the wall paper stripper and rip all that crap down. A quick trip down to Homebase and a long weekend and what do we have here, a nice clean new website. Lets see how long the shine lasts before we let it rot this time =D

So, what is new? well for probably the first time in possibly a decade, we've actually changed the content structure of the site. Gone are the sections and news reel, now its just all content all the time. Everything is bundled into this front page listing and if its too big to fit, then just click the Read More link or the title and it will display in its full glory. The items can be sorted by tags if you want to filter down by type.

There is a sidebar to your right that contains various nonesense and can be collapsed by hitting the >>> button above it in the nav bar.

The comments system has also been given a overhaul, you can now comment on any content on the site not just news items. Let's see how long it is before the spam bots learn to out wit it and if we need to release the Cows again.

Feel free to bitch and moan about change and bugs in the comments and if it actually works and we bother to read it we might do something about it.

Enjoy!
