Yup, something remotely Quake/id Software related has been put up on the interwebz, so here is the obligatory int13h news post. Its a Free (ad-supported) Quake 3 Engine based game that they are going to release soon for the masses, and if you want to have a better than zero chance of playing it early, go and throw your email address here...

Now most of our regular reader(s) will know that we're absolutely unflinching in our proclaiming that we're not a Blog, so why the sudden change of heart?
Well we come from upon high with a warning - We saw the blogosphere coming... and we had the good enough sense to avoid it. We experimented with inconsequential posts about me strangling Mare, what music we were listening too and what our moods were, and from these misplaced steps we realised that the more drivel you produce, the more diluted the information super-canal-o-phone becomes. This means search engines fail and only a semantic web can save us.... Bollocks!
My point? Well isn't obvious? We don't update because we're here to save THE INTERNET!
Who'd of thunk it, they have actually got Team Fortress 2 finished. Even in its Beta form it's pretty damn spanking, so you obviously need to go and buy it. Do so on Steam.
Then go and stalk us on the int13h Steam Community site thingy!

It's in my job description to do such things and dammit I feel like I have a deep down responsibility to all of us to at least post a link to the demo and use a fancy <strong> tag on the release date to emphasize the importance of the date that I will soon disappear in to a Quaking euphoria..

Unless you avoid the open source community like the plague you can't have helped but to notice the current retardfest that is the GPL vs BSDL battle-royal. As per usual Theo De Raadt has unleashed some vitriol tinged with fact, and as usual the GPL/Linux zealots are banging on about inconsequential and irrelevent points.
The key facts are :-
1) Only the original author can remove or change the licensing.
2) All rights remain in control of the copyright author unless SPECIFICALLY given up.

Completely irrelevent. If you use BSDL licensed code you have to keep the license intact.
By now most people who know me or who have visited this site over the years will know how I feel about Linux, zealots and the GPL... so it comes as no surprise that I'm on the BSD side of the fence but this time I think 'they' have excelled themselves.
